FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do the Needles Hurt?

Generally, people do not feel them much at all. I understand how you may feel nervous, I am very gentle and use needles that are high quality and silicone coated which make them glide in very well.

How many Treatments do I Need?

There is no hard and fast rule, however 10 to 20 treatments is a general guide but does depend on the condition and the person. It can even be as little as 2 or 3 treatments. The earlier you come in for a treatment the better. I will advise on how long to come for treatment. It can be weekly, twice a week or three times a week depending on the condition.

How Long do the Needles Stay in?

About 30 to 40 minutes is ideal.

Are the Needles Sterile?

The needles come in sterile packaging and are disposed of in a sharps bin after use.

Are there any Side Effects?

Some people who bruise easily or who are on certain medications like 'blood thinners' can come out in a bruise. Sometimes you can feel a little light headed after treatment. Some people do feel a little sleepy after the treatment. If this is the case please do not drive or operate machinery straight away after the acupuncture.

What Clothes do I Have to Wear?

Loose clothes where the sleeves and trousers can be pulled up over the elbows and knees. Some people also like to wear loose gym clothes.

Will my Insurance Company Cover Acupuncture Treatments?

Most insurance policies pay for acupuncture treatments. Check with your insurance provider and have a look at the British Acupuncture Councils list of insurance companies. You will need to inform the insurance company that I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council before you undergo treatment to double check if your company covers this membership criteria.
